Gossett
Partner
Mr. Gossett is a partner with Arnstein & Lehr, and
concentrates his practice in the areas of association and
nonprofit organization law and intellectual property law. He
has more than 30 years of experience representing trade
associations, professional societies, charities and other
nonprofit entities, as well as their for-profit affiliates.
He currently represents more than 100 association and
nonprofit organizations throughout the country. He brings an
insider's perspective in representing such organizations,
having previously served as "in-house" counsel with the
International Association of Assessing Officers and the
National Association of Realtors. Mr. Gossett serves as
Editor of the Firm's monthly Nonprofit Organization Update,
a newsletter on recent nonprofit organization law
developments which is sent to clients and other executives
and professionals in the nonprofit community. In the
intellectual property law area, he regularly assists the
Firm's nonprofit and other clients with trademark and
copyright matters, including name availability and
infringement matters, and he serves as Editor of the Firm's
quarterly Intellectual Property Update.
Professional Activities and Achievements
Mr. Gossett is a member of the American Bar Association;
Illinois State Bar Association; Chicago Bar Association
(former Chairman of Trade and Professional Associations Law
Committee); American Society of Association Executives; and
Association Forum of Chicagoland.
Recent Publications
Mr. Gossett is the author of "The Myriad Problems of
Shopping Center Assessment," published in the Journal of
State Taxation, and "Realistic Appraisal Techniques of Large
Income-Producing Properties," published in the Real Property
Probate and Trust Journal. He also wrote a monthly column in
Association Trends and is the author of numerous articles
appearing in the following publications: Property Tax
Journal and Assessment Digest, published by the
International Association of Assessing Officers; Forum,
published by the Association Forum; Chronicle published by
the Illinois Association of Non-Profit Organizations; and
Association Law & Policy, published by the American Society
of Association Executives.
