Arthur L. Klein
Partner

Mr. Klein is a partner and head of the Appellate group at Arnstein & Lehr, where he has practiced since 1963. He has been selected by his peers as a Leading Lawyer and as an Illinois Super Lawyer in Civil Appellate Law. He practices in the general litigation area, concentrating in appellate practice. He has been the head of the Firm's Appellate Department since 1978 and has handled appeals throughout the country involving a broad range of matters, including insurance coverage, employment law, medical malpractice, products liability, public liability, real estate, zoning and a large variety of commercial transactions. Among Mr. Klein's more significant appellate victories have been decisions affirming summary judgment in favor of employers in major discrimination cases, reversing multi-million dollar verdicts rendered against, and affirming judgment in favor of, health care entities and physicians in medical malpractice actions, decisions insulating commercial lenders from liability under Federal Truth-in-Lending and racketeering Statutes, reversing liability judgments under Federal Communications Statutes, and reversing trial court decisions denying motion to transfer cases to other jurisdictions.

Professional Activities and Achievements

Mr. Klein has been an Adjunct Professor of Law at John Marshall Law School in Chicago, where he taught courses in legal writing and appellate advocacy. He is a member of the Illinois Appellate Lawyers Association; Illinois State Bar Association; American Bar Association and its Sections on Torts and Insurance Practice and Appellate Practice; and the Chicago Bar Association.

Recent Publications

Mr. Klein has served as a member of numerous panels discussing various aspects of appellate practice, such as effective brief writing and oral argument, which were sponsored by the Chicago Bar Association. He has also spoken at seminars dealing with insurance coverage and insurance law. He has served as the moderator and a lecturer at symposiums on Insurance Litigation in Illinois and Illinois Appellate Practice which were conducted by Lorman Education Services.
