Jeffrey B. Shapiro is a partner in, and head of, the Miami office of Arnstein & Lehr. A nationally acclaimed trial attorney, Mr. Shapiro has served as lead trial counsel in handling complex products liability, toxic tort, medical device and commercial litigation matters on behalf of major domestic and foreign manufacturers, distributors and other companies. He also has extensive experience handling medical malpractice defense, intellectual property litigation, premises liability and employment-related claims. During the past several years, he has served on behalf of several pharmaceutical and medical device companies In connection with the representation of his clients, Mr. Shapiro has appeared in various state and federal courts and been involved both regionally and nationally in multi-district litigation, and "global settlement strategies." Finally, he has been lead trial counsel in other diverse litigation including SUV rollovers and liability matters involving allegations of inadequate security brought against a major sports facility.

Professional Activities and Achievements

Prior to entering private practice, Mr. Shapiro worked from 1976 to 1979 as an Assistant District Attorney in New York, serving as the lead attorney in numerous felony trials involving crimes ranging from white collar matters to acts of violence. Mr. Shapiro has spoken and written on numerous topics, including the best method to approach "repetitive" litigation involving the same product, both in the context of multiple state lawsuits and class actions, CAFA 2005, Spoliation of Evidence and Federal Preemption.


He is the Chairperson of the Audit and Inspector General Selection Committees for the Miami-Dade Public School System, Chairperson of the Medical Device and Drug committee of the International Lawyers Network, a member of the Defense Research Institute, as well as the American, Florida, and Dade County Bar Associations.
