Michael R. Turoff
Partner
Mr. Turoff is a partner and co-chair of the Litigation
group of Arnstein & Lehr, where he has practiced
since 1964. He has substantial experience handling a broad
range of sophisticated business, securities, commercial, and
tort litigation matters. Among the types of matters he has
litigated are complex insurance coverage disputes, including
issues concerning the availability of coverage for products
liability, commercial and environmental claims; breach of
contract claims, including issues relating to interference
with contractual relations and prospective economic
advantage; injunctive and equitable remedies, especially as
they relate to issues of unfair competition and the
enforceability of restrictive covenants; shareholder
disputes; trade secrets; products liability; breach of
fiduciary duty; fraud; real estate and commercial leases;
claims against issuers, officers and directors under federal
and state securities laws and common law actions based on
alleged securities fraud, RICO; public liability claims;
creditor's rights including fraudulent transfer claims;
declaratory judgments; Lanham Act; and antitrust claims
under both the Sherman Act and the Robinson-Patman Act. Mr
Turoff has practiced in federal and state trial and
appellate courts throughout the country, as well as before
arbitration panels of the NASD, mediators and administrative
bodies.
Professional Activities and Achievements
He is a member of the Chicago Bar Association, the Illinois
State Bar Association, the American Bar Association (ABA),
and the ABA's Section on Litigation, Committee on Tort and
Insurance Practice, and Committee on Corporate Counsel. He
has been designated as an Illinois Super Lawyer and is a
member of the Leading Lawyers Network.
Recent Publications
Mr. Turoff has spoken extensively on a broad range of issues
in the litigation area at seminars sponsored by Lorman
Education Services, the Chicago Bar Association, various
trade groups and Arnstein & Lehr. Among the issues he has
addressed are insurance coverage, declaratory judgment
actions, land trusts, products liability, trade secrets and
litigation strategy and techniques.
