Elizabeth Y. Wei
Associate
Ms. Wei is an associate
in Arnstein & Lehr's Litigation and
Labor & Employment groups.
She has been involved in litigation matters ranging from
tort and complex commercial litigation cases to criminal law
and real estate issues. Ms. Wei has also contributed to
post-trial appellate efforts in tort, contract and tax
matters. Additionally, Ms.
Wei works in the employment and labor law areas, recently
helping clients with drafting
and updating employee handbooks and policies and also
assisting with seminars discussing
tools employers should consider implementing to encourage
employee retention, covenants not-to-compete and
current trends in class action lawsuits.
Professional Activities and Achievements
Ms. Wei is a member of the Chicago Bar Association. She
recently authored an article about the work product doctrine
in the tax litigation context, which was published in the
Journal of Tax Practice and Procedures. She also co-authored
a paper on cost-effective discovery for pro-bono attorneys,
as well as a paper on the common law “Partial Actual
Eviction” rule. She also contributed to an article on
mortgage tips for lenders where the borrowers are in a
same-sex union.
While attending law school, Ms. Wei served as an Associate
Editor and as Symposium Editor for the University of
Michigan Journal of Law Reform, where she helped organize
the symposium: “Not From Concentrate? Media Regulation at
the Turn of the Millennium.” She was the recipient of a 2003
Bergstrom Child Welfare Summer Fellowship and worked for the
University of Michigan Child Advocacy Law Clinic throughout
her law school career. Through the clinic, Ms. Wei managed
several child neglect and abuse cases, advocating for the
best interests of the children in court proceedings,
including in several trials for the termination of parental
rights.
