Congratulations to Miami Associate Andrea Cox who recently received the designation Board Certified in Appellate Practice after passing The Florida Bar certification exam for appellate lawyers. Andrea's trial and appellate practice focuses on insurance and corporate defense, including product liability, medical device, personal injury, and malpractice cases.  She also drafts and argues dispositive motions before trial courts in complex tort and commercial litigation.

Andrea has extensive appellate experience in courts throughout Florida, including the Florida Supreme Court.  She has also been recognized as a 'friend of the Court,' submitting briefs on issues of great public importance.

The Florida Bar board certification program recognizes attorneys’ special knowledge, skills and proficiency in various areas of law and professionalism and ethics in practice. Certification is the highest level of recognition by The Florida Bar of the competency and experience of attorneys in the areas of law approved for certification by the Supreme Court of Florida.

A lawyer who is a member in good standing of The Florida Bar and who meets the standards prescribed by the Florida Supreme Court may become board certified in one or more of the 22 certification fields. Minimum requirements for certification include a minimum of five years in law practice; a satisfactory showing of substantial involvement in the field of law for which certification is sought; a passing grade on the examination; satisfactory peer review assessment of competence in the specialty field as well as character; ethics and professionalism in the practice of law; and satisfaction of the certification area’s continuing legal education requirements.
