Arnstein & Lehr's Diversity Event with Harvard Law Professor Featured in Chicago Daily Law Bulletin
July 26, 2016
Arnstein & Lehr’s Committee on Diversity & Inclusion partnered with the Chicago Black Partners’ Alliance (CBPA) to host a special event called The State of Black Partners in Chicago Law Firms. Prof. David B. Wilkins from Harvard Law School, who previously taught Arnstein & Lehr partner and CBPA member Karen Harris, was the guest speaker. He is a renowned scholar on issues affecting minorities in large law firms and provided a perspective on the historical challenges black attorneys in Chicago’s large law firms have faced, and continue to face, today. Prof. Wilkins also discussed solutions and where black lawyers have found success.
The event was published in a special feature by the Chicago Daily Law Bulletin called, “Study: Little rise in black partners over time.” Ms. Harris and Prof. Wilkins were both quoted in the article.
Around 30 people attended the program, including managing partner Michael Gesas and Diversity Committee Chair Robert Cichocki. Networking opportunities occurred before and after the event. CBPA is an association of African American partners at Chicago’s largest law firms.
